Faculty Position in Neuroscience

The California Institute of Technology is seeking outstanding candidates for a tenure-track or tenured professorial position in the Division of Biology and Biological Engineering. We are searching for talented investigators in all fields of Neuroscience. The successful applicant is expected to develop an innovative research program and have a commitment to undergraduate teaching.

Although there is a preference for junior candidates, applicants at all professorial levels are encouraged to apply. For an untenured position, the initial appointment is for four years and is contingent upon completion of the Ph.D. degree. For a tenured position, we seek candidates who have developed cutting edge research programs that have demonstrated exceptional impact.

Post Doctoral Position in Malaria Pathogenesis

Position Title: Post Doctoral Fellow

Position Description: The Daily lab is hiring a post-doctoral fellow to study brain swelling in the experimental model of cerebral malaria (ECM). We are seeking a highly motivated and productive scientist to lead the program which will define mechanisms of brain swelling through analysis of gene knock out of parasite virulence proteins, metabolomics, histopathology and neuroimaging. Adjunctive therapies will be tested in vivo to improve survival in ECM.  The scientist will be expected to design and conduct experiments, interpret data and prepare manuscripts.  This project is done in collaboration with Dr. Gregoire Lauvau.  Funding is available for two years, the initial appointment is for one year and will be renewed with satisfactory progress.

Job Requirements:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A doctoral degree or equivalent (Ph.D., M.D., ScD., D.V.M., etc.) in an appropriate field is required. Experience in the animal model of infection is required (malaria infection preferred). Strong scientific writing ability, work ethic and collegiality are required. Multiple first author publications are required.

Successful applications will have relevant work experience in molecular parasitology or related fields.
