On November 16, 2016, David Taylor, PhD, Assistant Director, Office of Postdoctoral Affairs, discussed best practices to identify appropriate NIH grant funding opportunities for research trainees.

In this session, he discussed individual fellowships and career development awards, including resources that are available to support the exploration of a wide variety of NIH grant mechanisms. Attendees were able to:

  • Learn how to effectively navigate the NIH Web site to identify grants that are appropriate for your level of training
  • Be introduced to Funding Opportunity Announcements and evaluate your eligibility for various NIH grant mechanisms
  • Learn to evaluate the best NIH Institute/Center to target in your funding search
  • Identify key CHOP resources that are available to support you as you prepare an NIH grant application
