Dennis Durbin, MD, MSCE, Professor of Pediatrics at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania and Director of the Office of Clinical and Translational Research at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia Research Institute, presented for the 2014-2015 Postdoc Seminar Series. His talk, entitled "Building Effective Mentoring Relationships," provided an overview of best practices in research mentoring.

The discussion addressed best practices in research mentoring for the biomedical community and focused on how to get the most out of your relationship with your (busy) mentor, as well as lay the foundation for becoming an effective mentor yourself. Dr. Durbin shared strategies for overcoming common challenges and offered practical advice for cultivating successful mentor/mentee relationships.
