A Program Director for Faculty Appointments position is open at Harvard Medical School.

Duties and Responsibilities
The Program Director for Faculty Appointments serves as a member of the senior team overseeing the appointment and promotion processes for faculty at Harvard Medical School. The Program Director provides critical input, technical advice and guidance to members of search and evaluation committees for senior faculty appointments. The person in this position will bring a broad perspective on cutting-edge research in a wide range of disciplines, and will aid search committees in identifying and evaluating the widest possible pool of faculty candidates. The Program Director will serve as a liaison between the Dean's office and the appointing academic departments to advise regarding the preparation and content of promotion materials. The Program Director will serve as the representative of the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at search and evaluation committee meetings. In the Office for Faculty Affairs, the Program Director is responsible for supervising support staff, preparing internal and external reports regarding the status of promotions, and assuring the maintenance and quality of all records in the permanent appointment process. The successful candidate will participate in activities related to faculty advancement, including new faculty orientation, presentations at affiliated institutions, and meeting one on one with faculty regarding CV preparation and career advancement.

Basic Qualifications
Advanced degree and 5+ years of related work experience required

Additional Qualifications
PhD, in biological, epidemiologic, or related sciences strongly preferred. Demonstrated broad perspective on science and ability to communicate complex scientific concepts clearly. Understanding of the culture of the biomedical research and clinical enterprise. Ability to identify and solve problems independently. Outstanding organizational and managerial skills. Excellent written and oral communication skills including attention to detail. Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to work well with individuals at very senior levels, an ability to develop instant rapport with individuals, and experience working with subtle and/or complex institutional political dynamics. Some prior supervisory experience. Ability to handle confidential material with discretion. Ability to work under pressure and to meet deadlines. Experience in maintaining databases and web technology preferred.
